Ever wondered what it will take for astronauts to travel to the Moon, Mars and beyond? What challenges will they face on their long journey? How will they stay motivated and healthy in their spacecraft so far away from Earth?

On a two-year journey to Mars, astronauts will face extraordinary challenges, including long distance, an enclosed environment, isolation, altered gravity and radiation. What will it take to get them safely to Mars and then back home?

This animated planetarium show highlights NASA research and training initiatives that are preparing the next generation of astronauts. It shows how creativity, collaboration, communication, and expertise in a variety of fields are key to the success of deep space travel – while also inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals!

Space: The New Frontier | Purchase Tickets

An entire generation came of age with the indescribable awe of landing on the Moon — and the ensuing Golden Age of Space has changed our world forever for the better.  More than 50 years later, what is the next step for humankind?  A second golden age of space has quietly dawned on us, with new hope for humanity as a spacefaring species. In the quest to make human spaceflight accessible within in a decade, not a century, and ultimately affordable to ordinary citizens, leading innovators, entrepreneurs, engineers, and daredevils are locked in a race into the unknown.  From self-assembling habitats, commercial space stations, launching rockets without fuel to building the Lunar Gateway to deep space, history is in the making as we speak.

A film for all ages, audiences will follow the newest members of the animal cast as they imitate their parents and embark on their life’s journeys.
